Monge describe situaciones y personajes a modo de retablos, estampas o arcanos en un mazo de cartas. Los arquetipos se manifiestan para representar conceptos eternos como la juventud, el poder, la magia y la naturaleza. A la manera de ídolos modernos, algunas figuras comienzan a tener un alcance más potente y a reproducirse en símbolos. Anti-magic is Carlos Monge’s perception of a changing world. With its lights and shadows, we can perceive the magic of what is yet to come. Monge portrays situations and characters as if they were altarpieces, vignettes, or arcana from a deck of cards. Archetypes emerge to represent eternal concepts such as youth, power, magic, and nature. Like modern idols, some figures begin to gain greater prominence and to reproduce themselves as symbols. Communication, connectivity, and digitalization are among the new elements that have become essential today. We grant them meaning as we come to depend on them…
Recordando el impacto del comienzo de la pandemia en 2020, surgió "Antimágico". Este título nació de la sensación de aislamiento que experimentamos, cuando la comunicación se vio obstaculizada y la vida se trasladó a las redes. Aunque seguí trabajando como siempre, mis obras reflejaron la conexión y el aislamiento simultáneo que caracterizó aquel momento histórico.
Mis exposiciones anteriores, "Te quiero" y "He oído", exploraban diferentes temas. La primera, una búsqueda personal y de conexión con lo desconocido. La segunda, una mirada irónica a una sociedad consumida por medios y símbolos de estatus. En contraste, esta nueva etapa destaca la relación entre la naturaleza y los personajes, reflejando la invisible barrera que la pandemia introdujo en nuestras vidas.
La comunicación artística se transforma hacia lo digital. Las redes son ahora un vehículo esencial. Me encuentro exhibiendo y vendiendo obras a través de galerías en California, una experiencia extraña para mí, acostumbrado a sentir y tocar mis creaciones. Aunque este cambio digital es inevitable, prefiero seguir trabajando con mis manos.
Esta transformación global también se refleja en mi obra más reciente. "Antimágico" representa el inicio de una nueva era: nos conectamos más que nunca, pero, también nos aislamos. Estamos ingresando a un mundo mágico e inesperado, conocido pero insólito.
En este viaje artístico, busco explorar la transformación del mundo y nuestras formas de comunicación en esta nueva era. Los invito a ser parte de esta reflexión sobre la magia, la conexión y el cambio.

Remembering the impact of the pandemic at the beginning of 2020, 𝘈𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘰 emerged. The title was born from the sense of isolation we all experienced, when communication was disrupted and life shifted to social media. Although I continued working as usual, my artworks began to reflect the simultaneous connection and isolation that characterized that historical moment.
My previous exhibitions, 𝘛𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘰 and 𝘏𝘦 𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘰, explored different themes. The first was a personal search, and a connection with the unknown. The second offered an ironic look at a society consumed by media and symbols of status. In contrast, this new stage highlights the relationship between nature and the characters, reflecting the invisible barrier that the pandemic introduced into our lives.
Artistic communication has also shifted toward the digital sphere. Social media have become an essential vehicle. I now find myself exhibiting and selling my work through galleries in California, which feels strange for me, as I am used to physically experiencing and touching my creations. Although this digital shift seems inevitable, I prefer to continue working with my hands.
This global transformation is also reflected in my most recent work. 𝘈𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘰 represents the beginning of a new era: we are more connected than ever, yet also more isolated. We are entering a magical and unexpected world—familiar, yet strangely unfamiliar.
Through this artistic journey, I seek to explore the transformation of the world and our ways of communicating in this new era. I invite you to take part in this reflection on magic, connection, and change.
